Born on March 10, 1924

She lived to the sweet age of 101 years with smiles, laughter and the love of life, family and friends.

Born – Zumeta E. Monteiro, one of a loving family of nine brothers and sisters.

She grew up in Sacramento, CA.  At the age of 18 years, she met her husband-to-be, Bob Costa, at a Cape Verdean dance.  They later eloped in Reno, Nevada, on November 29, 1942.  They remained married for 52 years, until Bob passed in 1994.  Zumeta and Bob had 3 children:  daughter Suzanne, born in 1943 and twin boys Robert and Rodney, born in 1946.  Rodney passed away in 2011.  Zumeta  was a loving mother, wife and devoted homemaker.  The family lived in Alameda, CA (Bay Aea/S.F.) for 40 years.  Upon Bob’s retirement in 1983, they decided to return to Sacramento, CA to be surrounded by family, friends, and the Cape Verdean community.  Zumeta loved her family and enjoyed people, sharing and giving of herself, all the while having a good time and a wonderful life.  She is survived by her family: daughter, son, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  Zumeta is now in the arms of our lord and joyfully embraced by her family and friends who preceded her.
