With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William Earl Millar on March 13, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family.
Born on October 27, 1945, in Gettysburg, South Dakota, William lived a life filled with dedication, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. He spent over 50 years in the tire industry, owning several stores and later working in wholesale sales for leading manufacturers. His work ethic, knowledge, and commitment to helping others made him a respected figure in the industry.
Beyond his career, golf became one of the great loves of his life. He wasn’t just a skilled player-he immersed himself in every aspect of the game. From building clubs to working at Cherry Island and The Ridge golf courses, he found joy in both playing and being part of the golf community. His passion for the sport was infectious, and year after year, people would return to golf tournaments looking for him, eager to share a laugh and a good story.
William had a special gift for making people smile. Whether it was through his quick wit, playful jokes, or genuine kindness, he had a way of brightening the day of everyone he met. He took initiative in everything he did, always caring about the success of those around him.
William is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his children, Kristin, Stephani, and Daniel; and his cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael, and his parents, Earl and Catherine.
A funeral service will be held on April 4, 2025, at Calvary Funeral Center in Citrus Heights, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in William’s memory to First Tee of Sacramento, an organization that embodies his love for golf and helping others.
William’s warmth, generosity, and humor will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
