Wayne William Rankin

Wayne passed away peacefully in his sleep on Aug.14th. Beloved husband to Linda for 51 years and loving father to his daughters Joy Rankin and Jill Price (David). Adoring Grandfather to Samantha and Dominic. He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Eileen and brother Gary. He is survived by his sister Penny Knapton (Steve) and brother Paul. He was loved by his nieces Sara and Katie and nephews David, Chris, and Greg. He will be missed by his brother in laws Peter, Phil (Karen) and Paul (Judy) Perinati.

Wayne served in the Navy for 4 years during Vietnam and traveled all around the world. He worked for United Parcel Service for 35 years. He was a member of The Circle of Honors, Mack million mile club (40 times around the world), and Dante Club. Wayne loved spending time with his hunting and fishing buddies. He looked forward to every October, as he loved getting to hang with boys on their guys trip.

Wayne was the perfect example of what a husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, and friend should be. His love for his family was endless and his priority was to take care of them. Even in his final days his thoughts and concerns were always about their needs and not his own. A selfless man with a smile and easy disposition gave him the title of being called “The Big E” meaning “the Big Easy” from his grandkids. He lit up when he spoke and playfully teased them and they in return loved their “Big E” like no other.

His best days were spent up in Tahoe at his cabin with Linda; 51 years married and still loving each other like it was the beginning. Countless years on the lake together fishing, camping, chopping wood at the cabin, and loving on their dogs was what made their days filled with joy.

Wayne will be missed by many, as he was the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. Loved by many he will leave a mark on so many hearts.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 22nd at noon at St.Marys</p>
