It is with heavy hearts to share Virginia passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at home surrounded by family

 

Virginia was born on December 24, 1931 in El Rio California to Raphael and Sofia Montijo. Her parents natives of Mexico from the states of Sonora and Chihuahua . She and her siblings grew up on their parents ranch in the small town of Orange Cove, California where Virginia loved to be outside helping her father.

 

Virginia graduated from Reedley High School in 1950. She got married in July of 1953 to Rodolfo Montanez. She had 3 children, Deborah, Kim and Rudy. She attended college at Sacramento City Jr. College in the late seventies and early eighties. Virginia received certificates in Accounting. She went on to have 2 careers; a Medical Secretary and an Analyst for the State of California where she retired from in 2004.

 

Virginia loved family, gardening & landscaping, music, dancing, bowling, gaming & sports such as; playing cards, bingo, horse racing, football, basketball and golf! She was inducted into the Mexican American Hall of Fame for Bowling in1996. She also enjoyed attending the Sacramento Food Banks Indian Casino bus trips! Virginia made the BEST Mexican food.

 

Virginia is proceeded in death by; her parents Raphael and Sofia, brother Miguel, daughter Deborah and grandchildren James (JC)) and Nicole.

 

Virginia is survived by sister Dolores, children Kim & Rudy, grandchildren; Ricci, Gregory, Hector Jr.,Raymond, Larissa, Janae, Isadora, Angelica, Naomi, Gabriel, Xavier, Mathew, Valentino, Noah, Kayden, Austin, Jaxon, Riley, Sofia, Kylie, Ariel, Roman, Robert and Zelda.

 

Virginia will always be remembered for her love and loyalty to her family. Her strength, sacrifice and determination to make a better life for herself and others. She was a compassionate, kind and generous human being.
