- July 25, 1932 - August 22, 2025
Valentina Catherine “Tins” Baul Ocampo Yuzon was the youngest child of Tranquilino Ocampo and Escolastica Baul. She was born on July 25, 1932 in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. She studied at Far Eastern University in the Philippines, where she earned her BS in Commerce. Upon arriving in the United States, she worked at Bank of America until her early retirement in 1989.
She married Amado Orlando “Totong” Reyes Yuzon, Jr. on April 10,1954. Their 69 years of marriage produced seven children, thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild – Ted and Ginny (Joshua and John), Dette and Junnie (Catherine/Justin [Bellamy], Christina, and Jonathan), Sasa and Syd (Kristina), JC (Katrina and Kyle), Bette (Clare), May and Arnold (Ann and Mia), and Andrew and Aimee (Alana and Andrew). She was a loving wife to Totong and enjoyed spending time with him. In the Philippines, she stayed home to raise her children. When she retired, she helped care for her grandchildren in her home while her children were at work. She spoiled them with her delicious cooking.
Besides cooking, her hobbies included gardening, dancing, reading, and watching game shows. She loved growing her beautiful roses and her lemons. She was a talented ballroom dancer, and dancing around the house was her number one form of exercise. She liked reading mystery and romance novels and even had a Readers Digest subscription. She enjoyed watching game shows like Family Feud and Jeopardy. She was also a very faith-filled woman, who recited her rosaries and attended mass daily. In the Philippines, she was active in the Cursillo and the Apostleship of Prayer groups.
Tins quietly passed in her sleep on August 22, 2025. She knew her time was near the end as she gathered all her children together the day before and facetimed most of her grandchildren then. She was preceded in death by her great love Totong, her parents Ingkong and Inang, her brother Paulo, and her sisters Vicenta and Generosa. She is survived by all her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchild. Her legacy of perpetuating close family ties and traditions is firmly rooted in the hearts of her children.
