Sue Eleanor Guerra
- November 22, 1934 - May 25, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sue Eleanor Guerra on May 25th, 2026 at the age of 91 years old.
She was born on November 22, 1934 to Irene Condra and Howard Pruett in the town of Newcastle, Indiana. She is the youngest of ten children. Sue moved to CA at the age of four years old. At the age of 9, she went to live and be raised by Helen and William Wright. She graduated from high school at St. Joseph’s Academy in 1952. She met Harvie Meadows and they were married. The two settled in Sacramento where she and Harvie had their daughter Marie.
Sue is preceded in death by Ronald Dale, Donald Zollinger, and her husband, Robert Guerra affectionately known as Papa of 34 years.
Sue is survived by her loving partner and best friend forever, Harvie Meadows; her daughter, Marie Mathiesen and husband Per. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and their families: Grandson Christopher Mathiesen, his children Hunter and Cooper, wife Amanda and her daughter Madison; Grandson Travis Mathiesen, wife Sofia and their children Ellie and Penny; Grandson Tyler Mathiesen, wife Rena and their children Ilyana and Liam. She is also survived by her only living sibling and sister, Phyliss Taylor and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her sweet, amazing, companion dog Gracie, who was always by her side.
Sue enjoyed rooting for the SF Giants (a fan until the very end), traveling, spending time in Arizona with Harvie, knitting and needlework, golfing in her younger days in a women’s golf club. She loved baking her famous brownies, snickerdoodles, and other desserts for family gatherings. She enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse items, gardening, and reading. She had a love for her Catholic faith by supporting St. Mary’s Parish , joining clubs, and participating in the yearly festival.
Her door was always open for family, friends, and neighbors to swing by for a visit.
Sue will forever be greatly missed by her loving family, as well as many wonderful neighbors, and lifelong friends. She made everyone feel special within minutes with her bright smile.
May she rest in peace.
Donations can be made in her honor to her favorite charities; SPCA, St. Jude Children’s Foundation, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sacramento.
Services will be held on June 15, 2026 at 1:00 viewing and 2:00 mass.
