Sandra Lee Montiel

Sandra passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on November 14, 1936, in Sacramento, California, to Angelo Della Maggiora and Mabel Della Maggiora. She attended C.K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College before marrying and becoming a devoted mother.

Sandy was an avid bowler and enjoyed participating in a local bowling league. She also volunteered at the hospital for 20 years, giving her time and compassion to others. She loved traveling and gardening and could often be found wandering through the nurseries around town, looking for flowers and plants.

Above all, Sandy’s life revolved around her family. She was the loving mother of Tamara, Todd, and Paul Diaz. Years later, she reunited with and married her high school sweetheart, Edward Montiel.  Sandy was Eddie’s Queen, and throughout their 48 years of marriage, he never treated her as anything less. Together, they welcomed their son, Scott, whom they raised together in Yuma, Arizona.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Mabel; her brother, Angelo Della Maggiora Jr. (Randy); and her sons, Todd and Paul.

She is survived by her daughter, Tamara, and son, Scott; her grandchildren, Jessica Barrera, Brianna Diaz, and Brandy Diaz; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Allyson, and Waylon; and her nephew, Greg Maggiora and his wife, Sue.

Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Chapel, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, followed by a private reception celebrating her life on what would have been her 90th birthday.

Mom, you will be forever missed and forever in our hearts.
