Roger Eugene Cox

Roger Eugene Cox passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Lincoln, CA.

Roger was born November 4, 1935 in Parsons, KS to John and Mildred (Brown) Cox. He attended St. Patrick’s School in Parsons, KS and Creighton University in Omaha, NE, graduating with a degree in Doctor of Medicine in 1960. Roger was a Captain in the US Air Force from 1962 to 1964. He and his wife, Vrela Cox moved their family to Rocklin, CA in 1966 when he joined a group as a General Practice Medical Doctor in Roseville, CA. The family moved to their home in Granite Bay, CA in May, 1969 where they lived for 37 years and raised their 8 children. Roger retired from his medical practice in 1997. In 2006 the couple moved to Lincoln, CA.

Roger enjoyed, traveling, RVing, boating, video games, and woodworking. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Roseville, CA and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his 8 children, Anthony (Jennifer) Cox of Palmer, AK, Susan (Harry) Wowchuk of Canoga Park, CA, Brian (Lara) Cox of Arcata, CA, Elizabeth (Peter) Gephart of Roseville, CA, Barbara (Randy) Fain of Roseville, CA, Andrew (Tamra) Cox of Roseville, CA, Patrick Cox of Antelope, CA, Margaret Cox of Roseville, CA, 19 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Roger is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Vrela Marie Cox, his parents, John and Mildred Cox, and his brother, John “Jack” Cox Jr.

Services will be held at Calvary Cemetery & Funeral Center Resurrection Chapel:
