Patricia Margaret Schmidt

Patricia Margaret Schmidt was called home to heaven on March 24, 2025. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 21, 1934, to parents John and Margaret Von Engeln. She was the oldest of five children.

Pat attended St. Louis Catholic School and Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City. Shortly after graduating, she married her husband Ed in 1953 and they were married for 71 years. Pat and Ed became parents to eight boys and Pat was always looking out for the next one to be a girl!

Pat became a supportive military wife during Ed’s 21-year career in the United States Air Force. During that span, they moved seven times, including a stint in Germany. Pat was a supermom, especially the time she flew commercial by herself with six young boys from the United States to Germany.

After Ed retired from the military, he and Pat embarked on a new career as owners of the Oak Gallery, a retail furniture store in Carmichael, California. During 16 years selling furniture and home accessories, they made friends with many of their customers and they loved serving the Sacramento area.

With a final retirement in 1996, Pat and Ed enjoyed splitting time between Sacramento and Kansas City, with trips to see family and friends around the country.

Pat had many interests which included painting, arts/crafts, antiques, decorating, reading, and catching up with friends. Her faith was first in her life and she was in daily prayer and she loved the Bible. She also loved her husband, family, and friends.

Pat is pre-deceased by her parents, and her son Timothy. Pat leaves behind her husband Ed, and her sons Phil (Jeannie), Greg (Renée), Edward (Cyndi), Martin (Susan), John (Stacy), Chris, and Tom. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters Barbara Stoppelman (Richard) and Mary Korth (David), and brothers John Von Engeln and Tim Von Englen (Gayle). The family would like to thank Grace Lehutsky for her special friendship and assistance in Pat’s later years.

All are welcomed to celebrate Pat’s life on April 10, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center located at 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights, CA 95621. Visitation is at 10:00 am followed by a Catholic mass at 11:00 am. A burial and reception will follow.
