Entered into everlasting life with Jesus on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Born November 1,1938 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Ethel DeBellis. He was a graduate of San Bernardino High School and attended Riverside City College in Los Angeles where he earned a degree in accounting. He was later certified by the Institute of Restaurant Management in Denver Colorado.
He married the love of his life, Minerva (Eva) Mecija DeBellis on September 8, 2008, in Reno, Nevada and received Church Blessings at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom CA on August 17, 2013. Mike and Eva shared their life together for 15 years in Folsom California.
Mike was raised by a family of musicians and he himself was a gifted musician, he played piano and trumpet. When he was a teenager, he won the best teen-age musician in entire San Bernardino Valley. In his earlier career, he managed their family business “The DeBellis Music Co.” founded in New York. He was a hardworking and good business man who owned and managed 3 branches of Mr. Steak Restaurant. From a private sector as an Accountant/Controller/Stockholder, he switched his career and joined the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as Auditor I. Mike had been acknowledged numerous times by customers and by the department by his professional attitude. He had done 16 years of service and retired as an Auditor III on 2004.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his loving wife Eva and watching TV with his dog, He loved to swim, travel, and visit kids in school and the elderly in care facilities with his certified therapy dog, Princess Sasha Zin. He also enjoyed spending time with family. He like sports such as: Basketball, Football and Bowling. He loved steaks, salads, pastas, sandwiches and of course, wines. As an accountant, he always monitors all the financial activities and organizing files.
Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife Eva, his beloved dog Princess Sasha, two sons from his first marriage Michael DeBellis Jr. and Jeffrey DeBellis, Daughter-in-law Johnna DeBellis DeBellis and grandchildren. Michael is also survived by his sisters Elissa DeBellis Pacifici, Mary Alice DeBellis Leibee and Dorothea DeBellis Niessen. He also survived by other siblings Vita Maria DeBellis-Fitzpatrick, Domenico Vito DeBellis, Thomas Pasquale DeBellis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale Giovanni DeBellis and Ethel Rosen DeBellis, Brother Pasquale (Pat) Charles DeBellis, Sister-in-law Sandy DeBellis, Second wife Geraldine “Jeri” DeBellis, Niece Toinette Costakes, Daughter, Laurie Ann DeBellis and Sister Tonia Fullenwider.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 307 Montrose Drive Folsom CA 95630 on Friday, October 27, 2023. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am with a Vigil (Rosary) Service at 10:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Renier Siva officiating. Reception will be followed at St. John Parish Hall. His remains will be cremated and his final resting place will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave. Citrus Heights. Committal will be determined.
