Michael J. Profumo, “Pro,” passed away May 4, 2023 in Carmichael, CA.  He was born December 21, 1939 to Frances A. (Deaver) and August V. Profumo of Sutter Creek, Amador County.

“Pro” grew up on Hayden Alley in Sutter Creek, attended grammar school and graduated from Amador County High School in 1957.  He earned a B.A. from CSUS in 1961 and Master of Accounting Science from University of Illinois in 1962.  He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 1968.

Mike was a Certified Public Accountant with membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Public Accountants.  Following his retirement as a Partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, he established a Consulting Practice in Sacramento.

He was very active in his community and was Chair of the Audit Committee of CARES & ACHT.  He was Past Chair of the Board of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the E-21 Team to Re-invent the high schools of the Sacramento City Unified School District.

Mike was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church as well as the Sacramento Catholic Diocese where he served on the Finance Committee and many other projects where his expertise was utilized.

He enjoyed traveling, cooking & BBQ’s, fishing, hiking and spending time in his cabin at Silver Lake, playing cards with friends and family.  He was a 50+ year member of the NSGW Amador Parlor 17.  Mike was very proud of his Italian heritage.  He was the longest-standing member of the Italian Benevolent Society for 63+ years and served as Grand Marshal during an Annual Italian Picnic Parade.

Mike is survived by his wife Judy, son Michael Jason (Kendra), and two grand-daughters, Kadie and Kemma; cousins Elaine Trevaskis, Roger Deaver, Rosie Poggi Sutherland, and Cindy Coon.  He was predeceased by his father Gus and mother Fran.

A Vigil will be held Monday, May 22, at St. John the Evangelist, 5751 Locust Ave, Carmichael, from 5-7pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 23 at Calvary Funeral Center Chapel, 7100 Verner Avenue, Sacramento at 10am.
