In Loving Memory of Maxi Marie Vela

Maxi Marie Vela, born on November 1, 1977, passed away unexpectedly on May 7th, 2024. She is survived by her beloved son, Jose Raymon Vela-Baker, her devoted boyfriend,  Roy Tyree Bankett, her grandmother, Mary Estrada Flores, her devoted parents, Mary Alice Vela and Jose Raymon and Maria Vela,  her siblings Nadine Vela, Jasmine Gastelum (Salvador), Yvette Gastelum, and Julian Vela (Reyna), along with her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Maxi was born and raised in Sacramento, California.  She attended McClatchy High School. In her younger years, she enjoyed riding quads, went boating, camping, and traveled to visit family in other states. As a teenager, she enjoyed cruising and hanging out with family and friends.  She loved music and having a great time. Her heart was filled beyond measure when she welcomed her son into this world.

As a mother to Jose Raymon Vela-Baker, he was the light of her life. Maxi’s devotion knew no bounds as she stood by him, offering unwavering encouragement in his pursuits. Her love for him was infinite, her dreams for his future boundless.
