1929 – 2025

Mary J Morrison passed away peacefully at her home in Rocklin, CA . Mary June was born on June 29, 1929, to Amico “Mike” Morrelli & Pasqua “Pauline” (Lombardi) in Ogden, Utah. Her parents met at family general store in Ogden, where Pauline had come to work as an accountant. Mary’s parents were married in Denver, CO, where Pauline’s family lived, at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church. Mary was baptized at St Joseph Catholic Church, on 24th Street in Ogden.
Mary said, “she loved school”, and she was happy to twice get to play the lead in school plays. In one, she played Susanna in Susanna’s Auction, and in the 10th Grade she played a Southern Belle.
In Weber College she met her future husband in the homeroom, because Morrelli & Morrison was right next to each other on the student’s class list. Their first date was the Sadie Hawkins dance.
Mary & Richard were married in St Joseph Catholic Church, Ogden on August 26, 1950.
Mary worked as a Home Education teacher, until her 3rd child Bobby was born (me). After that, she stayed home as a full-time homemaker & mother. She would eventually have 9 children.
In 1963, the family moved to Cupertino, CA for better work & college opportunities, buying a home at 1449 Primrose Way. I remember her constantly working to keep up with the household. In later years, she also helped with the office management for her husband’s private Architectural practice.
In Cupertino, Mary & Richard were members of St Joseph of Cupertino Catholic Church. Also, Mary & Richard volunteered with Meals on Wheels helping to bring healthy food to homebound seniors. Mary was known as a generous person always trying to help others. She was a friendly, welcoming person, and a loving mother. In a word, her life was lived in sacrifice for her children, and others.
In 1992 Mary & Richard, with their son Bob and his wife Alma took a pilgrimage to the Holyland, Rome and northern Italy catholic shrines. While in Italy, they took a side excursion, where they were also able to enjoy visiting her father Amico Morrelli’s southern Italy birth town, San Pietro Avellana.
After the passing of her husband Richard, in 2009, she moved to Rocklin, CA, to be near her kids. She bought a small home at 5311 Eddy Ct. Mary was born on June 29, the Feast of Sts Peter & Paul. Her father’s birth church was Sts Peter & Paul, and her home parish in Rocklin was Sts Peter & Paul.
On March 9, 2025, Mary passed on peacefully to join her parents, her husband Richard L Morrison, her sisters: Gloria Morrelli, Virginia “Ginny” Corra, her brother Samuel C Morrelli, and her son Samuel Paul Morrison in heaven.
