Mary Ellen Fahey

Mary Ellen Fahey passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the age of 96 from natural causes.

Born in Elyria, Ohio to John and Ellen Wilhelmy, Mary Ellen grew up with three other siblings; John, Katherine and Raymond.  Despite being a depression baby, Mary Ellen enjoyed life by ice skating in winters, playing until dark in the summers and going to the movies then getting an ice cream treat at the local soda fountain with her brothers and sister.

Mary Ellen was an accomplished musician learning to play the piano and clarinet – a joy she nurtured in later years at Christmas events with her children and grandchildren.  She graduated from Marquette University nursing school, began her life as a nurse at Milwaukee General Hospital where she met her husband of 42 years, Dr. Norbert Fahey MD.  Like many young Americans in the early 50s, they decided to move to California to start their family, moving first to San Diego, then Torrance, before finally making Sacramento their lifelong home.

Mary Ellen was the loving mother of 10 children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great granchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Norbert James Fahey, MD and children Deborah Kamradt and Dr. Norbert James Fahey Jr., MD.  She is survived by; Mary Eaton, Dana & Ryan Harvey , Brielle & Hunter Harvey, Patrick Fahey, Michelle & Kris Miller, Kamen, Morgan & Mason Miller, Megan & Ryan Denning, Rylee Denning, John & Nahid Fahey, Brian Fahey & Lauren Kondo, James Fahey, Craig Fahey, Maureen Fahey-Zeller & John Zeller, Jonathon Zeller, Monna Fahey Rooney, Ryan Rooney and Michael Fahey.

Mary Ellen was a devoted Catholic and dedicated her life to our Lord, her family and faith.  Her favorite past times were; listening to conservative talk radio, saying the rosary and being with her children.  Her memory lives on forever.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her wonderful caregivers Juliet & Chrissy.
