Mary A. Dias

With grace in her heart and a smile that could light up any room, Mary peacefully departed this world on July 18, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on February 12, 1928, in the quaint village of Ribeirinha, Pico, Azores, Mary was the cherished daughter of Maria Inacio Neves and Joao DaSilva and loving Stepmother Maria DaSilva. Her life was an inspiring tapestry of love, art, and devotion, woven with the threads of her Portuguese heritage.

In her early years, Mary found joy and beauty in the world around her, expressing it through her art. She created stunning paintings that captured the vibrant colors and emotions of her beloved Azores. Her artistic talents were not limited to canvas; Mary possessed a voice that could melt even the hardest of hearts. She was a renowned singer of Fados, the soulful music of Portugal, enchanting audiences with her profound performances at numerous concerts and events.

Mary’s life was enriched by her deep and abiding faith. A devoted member of St. Elizabeth of Portugal Church, she found solace and strength in her daily prayers, especially the rosary, which she recited twice each day. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond personal devotion; she was an active participant in various organizations, including the Luso American Financial, PFSA, Sacramento Portuguese Holy Spirit Society, Our Lady of Fatima #1, Cabrillo Civic Club of Sacramento, and the Portuguese Historical Society. Her contributions to these communities will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

On November 9, 1946, Mary married her soulmate and best friend, Frank R. Dias, in Faial, Azores. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual admiration. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Even in their attire, Mary ensured they were harmoniously matched, a reflection of their perfect union. Though Frank predeceased Mary, their love story remains an everlasting source of inspiration for all who knew them.

Mary was the proud and loving matriarch of her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Judy Dias Allen (Larry) and Gary R. Dias (Janet). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kelly Dias Corsetti (Scott), Gregory Dias, David Dias (Alicia), James Allen (Tiffany), and Scott Allen (Connie), and her nine great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride. Family gatherings were a highlight for Mary, where her eyes would sparkle with happiness at the sight of her beloved family together.

Known for her impeccable style and elegance, Mary was truly a class act. Her attention to detail and love for fashion were evident in her chic ensembles, always accompanied by a warm and genuine smile.

As we bid farewell to Mary, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her legacy of love, artistry, and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
