Mark Fredrick Blucher
- October 10, 1955 - April 3, 2026
Mark Fredrick Blucher of Rocklin, California passed away peacefully at his family home in Sacramento on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Profoundly kind and devoted to his loved ones, he was 70 years old. Born to Lester and Patricia Blucher on October 10, 1955, in Sacramento, California, Mark attended McClatchy High School and became known as a genuine and respected professional, graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture. He spent the majority of his career as an Architect and Project Director for the California Department of General Services, while raising two sons and a daughter in Rocklin.
Mark’s honesty, authentic interest in others and exceptional communication skills were noted by those who shared in his public service work and participation in the Catholic church community of the greater Sacramento area. He served as a volunteer coach for youth baseball and soccer over multiple years and had a special place in his heart for disabled children. Mark took great pleasure in camping excursions with his own children, sharing his love of nature with them in a variety of memorable locations throughout the western U.S. Later in life, he found joy in travel with his wife Corinna, and in his final years, walked on pilgrimages in the U.S. and through Portugal and Spain on the Camino de Santiago. Favorite pastimes included landscaping and gardening, antiquing, communion with his church family in worship and retreats, beloved pets, Italian cuisine, strong coffee, dark beer, chocolate and Gunther’s ice cream.
Mark is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Corinna Blucher of Rocklin, CA and his three beloved children and their families: Gregg and Kaitlynn Blucher of Crestwood, KY, Bradley and Heather Blucher of Crestwood, KY and Karissa and Geno Holcombe of Poulsbo, WA. Mark cherished each of his eleven grandchildren: Ellie, Kylie, Lindsay and Chelsea Blucher; Noah, Madilynn and Grayson Blucher and Jack, Addison, Benjamin and Blake Holcombe, and another expected in October. He is fondly remembered by his former wife and mother of his children, Kimberly Reid of La Grange, KY. Mark is preceded in death by both parents, Lester and Patricia Blucher of Sacramento and his brother Kent Blucher as well as his beloved aunt, Florence Blucher.
A mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday April 27th, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Roseville, followed by interment at Newcastle Cemetery and a celebration of life reception at Newcastle Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to MissionMSA.org to aid and support those affected with Multiple System Atrophy and in honor of the loss and struggle he experienced from this disease.
Mark’s grace, faith, courage, charity and extraordinary kindness will leave a lasting impression and affect in the lives of everyone who knew him.
