Marilyn Reid McCall was born on September 14, 1931 in Quincy, Massachusetts, the “City of Presidents.”

She spent her early education in the Boston Catholic school system. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in General Education at Trinity College in Washington DC. She was passionate about education, so much so that after graduating she was employed by a local school to teach students from Lithuania. In addition to her work, she attended night classes at Boston College, where she earned a Master’s Degree in the arts.

In 1955, she applied for and secured a position with the United States Air Force at the Rhein-Main Air Force base in Germany, teaching at the Dependents School. During her tenure at the base, she became acquainted with a newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, William McCall. The two married on September 14, 1957, on her 26th birthday. They lived a military life, relocating to many Air Force bases. They welcomed their daughters while living in three states: Elizabeth, in Fayetteville, North Carolina; Margaret in Lubbock, Texas; and Katherine in Sacramento, California. During these years Mimi retired from teaching to be a Mom, a packer, mover, driver, and reorganizer “Extraordinaire.”

Mimi and Bill shared 26 years of a happy military life, with the last five stationed in Oahu at the Pearl Harbor Hickam Air Force base. Then, Mimi purchased the family home in Fair Oaks, California. Together, they lived there for 50 years.

Mimi was active in Mercy and Loreto High Schools. Mimi and Bill joined the Fair Oaks Tennis Club. She enjoyed traveling to time shares, especially to Cape Cod, and various locations throughout the United States and Canada. She also enjoyed skiing, catering, camping and bridge. She loved Hawaii and returned many times with close mainland friends and family. Together they frequented beaches and corals of Bellows Air Force Base on the Island of Oahu.
