In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mother and Granny
October 15, 1935 to June 23, 2025

Our mother, known to most simply as Granny, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at the age of 89. While her name Maria Teresa Garcia may appear in official records, to us and to so many who knew her, she was always just “Granny” strong, steady, and the heart of our family.

She leaves behind three daughters who loved her deeply: Yvonne, Yvette, and Vicki. Each of us carries her spirit in our own way. Her quiet resilience, her fierce independence, and her unmistakable way of showing love not through words or embraces, but through action. She wasn’t one for sentiment or display, but we never once doubted how she felt about us. If she brought you your favorite meal, made sure your clothes were folded just right, or stayed up until you got home, you knew. That was Granny’s way.

Granny was also a grandmother to three grandchildren Akeel, Ariel, and Audrey each of whom brought her joy in their own unique way. Whether it was a quick conversation, a quiet nod of approval, or a plate of food left on the stove just for you, she knew how to love without ever having to say a word.

She was the kind of woman who made everything work even when it shouldn’t have. She didn’t complain, she didn’t ask for much, and she gave more than she ever received. She kept our world running with quiet strength, a sharp mind, and an unwavering sense of what needed to be done. She was steady when life was not.

Granny’s legacy is not found in grand gestures or public praise. It lives in the everyday things. The way we care for others, the way we show up, the way we do what is right even when no one is looking. It lives in us, her daughters, and in her grandchildren. It lives in everyone she touched, often in ways they might not have even realized at the time.

She may not have said “I love you” out loud, but we heard it all the same. We felt it in every little thing she did. And we always will.

We love you, Granny. Thank you for everything.
