Manuel Jorge Silveira

Jorge was born on December 28, 1936 in Faial, Azores to Manuel Silveira Jorge and Maria da Gloria Pascoal. He came to the United States in 1959 and worked at several dairies. He then went to work for St. Patrick Home for Children for 37 years and retired in 2001. He was an active member of several Portuguese organizations. He loved making wine from his own grapes and cooking sopas for the Portuguese Festas.

In 1959, he married Maria Lourdes Faria in Sacramento and they spent almost 64 years together (their Anniversary would have been 2 days after his passing). He passed away on December 10, 2023 at Kaiser Hospital, surrounded by family.

Jorge is survived by his wife, Lourdes, as well as his son, Anthony (Cheryl) of Scranton, Arkansas, his two daughters Debbie (Jason) of Elk Grove and Olga (Jack) of Sacramento. He is also survived by his grandchildren Melissa (Dusty), Justin (Ellen), William, Abigail, Skylar, Allison and Wesley, as well as Melissa and Dusty’s four daughters, Breana (McKay), Krista, Billie and Kylie.
