Malosi “Milo” Moana
- April 12, 2020 - May 11, 2026
Malosi “Milo” Moana, age 6, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving parents and baby brother after a courageous 10-month battle with brain cancer. Born on April 12, 2020, in Monterey, California, to Nikolao and Alexandria Moana, Milo was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend whose gentle spirit touched all who knew him.
His name, “Malosi,” comes from the Samoan word Fa’amalosi, meaning “to be strong and endure,” a meaning he embodied every day of his life. Even throughout his illness, Milo’s compassion and love for others never faded. He often comforted his family with reassurance, smiles, and reminders that he was okay and loved them deeply.
Milo found joy in life’s simplest moments. He loved shopping, swimming, reading books, riding his bike, singing, dancing, building with Legos, painting, and drawing. Prior to his diagnosis, he was excitedly preparing to enter kindergarten and beginning to learn how to read.
He is survived by his loving parents, Nikolao and Alexandria Moana; his little brother, Bodhi; his grandparents, Michael and Agatha Beall; and many loving aunts, uncles, family members, and friends. Though his time here was far too short, Milo’s love, courage, and light will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Cemetery & Funeral Center to honor and remember the beautiful life of our sweet Milo. There be an evening vigil taking place on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 5pm-8pm. On Saturday, May 23, 2026, there will be a final viewing at 10am and a Funeral Mass at 11am. There will be a private reception following the Mass Service for family and friends.
