Lucy Katherine Anderson

Lucy grew up on the Amodei Ranch in Sierraville CA where her parents settled after immigrating to the Sierra Valley from Northern Italy in 1921.  She worked hard milking cows on the family’s dairy ranch. At the tender age of 17 she decided there must be something else in life so she moved to the big city of Sacramento. There she attended Heald Business College and got a job at the Sacramento Bee Newspaper in their Accounting Department.

In 1941 she met her husband Jack Anderson in Sacramento at a USO type dance and they married in 1946 after he returned from service in WW II. They raised 6 children together: Robert, Ruthann, Greg, Tim, Mary & Debbie.

The Anderson family spent many summers in Sierraville – fishing, hiking, camping, rock hunting, exploring the valley & of course – playing canasta!  In 1972 they built their family cabin there, which they enjoyed together for many years – playing with cousins and visiting relatives. The cabin was a joy in Lucy’s life and she stayed there often throughout the years.  After losing Jack in 1985, Lucy discovered a passion for travel and visited Italy numerous times. There she met more relatives and explored her family roots.

Lucy also enjoyed spending time with her 13 Grandkids and 6 Great-Grandkids…her 7^th Great Grandchild will be arriving any day now… as well as her siblings and many nieces & nephews.

Lucy lived a full life and celebrated 100 years this May surrounded by family and friends.

She was dedicated to her family and she was loved my many.

Lucy, Lu, Mom, Mama, Gramma Lu, Mamma Lucia, Aunt Lu, Ole Lady Ole Lady Ole Lady….we will all miss you.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 17 from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm followed by a Rosary at 12:30 pm and a Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm at Calvary Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights. A Committal Services will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights.
