Lt. Col. Patrick Arden Bagley

March 18, 1966 - May 6, 2024

Lt. Col. Patrick Arden Bagley

On the evening of May 5, 2024, Patrick Arden Bagley passed away while surrounded by loving family at his home in Carmichael.  He was 58 years old.

Patrick was born in March 1966 to Sharon Ann and William in Sacramento.  He attended St John the Evangelist Catholic School in Carmichael, where he met his future wife, Christine Holbus.  After graduating from Jesuit High School, he attended and graduated Gonzaga University.  His distinguished military career included numerous tours of duty oversees, including combat duty in Iraq and deployments to the Ukraine, the Philippians, South Korea, and Guam.  He passed away as an active-duty Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard working at the Counterdrug Task Force.

A friend to all, Patrick had an infectious smile, and he would seek out folks he had not met at every gathering.  His outgoing and positive personality made him a natural leader in the military and a baseball, football, and basketball youth and high school coach.  He was a hero to his three sons. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and booster of Jesuit High School and Gonzaga athletics.  Patrick loved live music and the outdoors.  He relished family vacations at the ocean and his dogs. He was also a lifelong member of St John the Evangelist parish. Perhaps his greatest gift was his power to make people smile.

Patrick is preceded in death by his parents, Sharon Ann and William, his brother, Billy, and his Grandparents Daniel Maurice and Catherine Bagley, Carroll Arden and Wanoma Heffernan, and General Donald Mattson.  He is survived by his wife Christine, his sons Anthony, Luke, and Zachary, his sisters Katie, Annie, and Meg, and his sixteen nieces and nephews.

A rosary and viewing will take place at 10 am and a funeral Mass will take place at 11 am at St John the Evangelist Church in Carmichael on Saturday May 18, 2024.  Flowers can be sent to the church or donations can be made to the Patrick Bagley Scholarship Fund at St John the Evangelist school.
