Kenneth Joseph Heisler passed away in his Citrus Heights home on August 25, 2023 with his beloved wife and children by his side. He lived a long, happy life of 90 years.
Born in Rolette, North Dakota on October 7, 1932, Ken was the 5th of thirteen children to Frank and Frances Heisler. He was raised on the family farm in Starkweather, North Dakota where he was a farmhand until the age of 20. He then proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952-1955. He followed his siblings and moved to California in 1955. Ken was an aircraft sheet metal mechanic at Mather Air Force Base for 35 years before he retired. He received many accolades for his excellent workmanship, and was a mentor to many.
Ken was all about family. He had a big, beautiful, blended family, and was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Among many other things, he will be remembered for his beautiful tulips, tasty BBQ, love of baseball and football, playing cards and dice, eating JoAnn’s delicious pies, plaid shirts, winning a $150K jackpot, and his deep Catholic faith.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Frances “JoAnn” Heisler, children from his first marriage, Timothy (Sandy) Heisler, Linda (James) Faherty, Margie (Wayne) Wilson, and Jerry (Michelle) Heisler; his son, Jon (Cindy) Heisler, from his second marriage; his step-daughters from his second marriage, Linda (Steve) Letizia and Vicki Letizia; his step-children from his marriage to Frances, Kim (Greg) Barker, John Doverspike, Connie (Johnny) O’Neal, Debra (Phil) Cearley, Kevin Doverspike, Boyd (Michelle) Doverspike; and his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Kos Heisler, Frank (Marty) Heisler, Helen Trenda, Irene (Breezie) Briesemeister, and Elaine Hettwer, as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Loretta Davis (d. 1967), and his second wife, Mary Jane Danford (d. 1984). His beloved siblings, Joe, Dorothy, Jim, John, Mary, Pete, and Eugene also preceded him in death.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5 pm – 8 pm with a Rosary at 6 pm at Calvary Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Parish, 7817 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights followed by a Committal Service at 12:00 pm at Calvary Cemetery, 7101 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights.
