Kenneth Glenn Barnes was born in San Jose, CA in 1958. He graduated from Hiram Johnson high school in 1977. Ken retired in 2020 after 40 years of management, mentorship, and sales as a General Manager within the copier industry.
He and Elsa Barnes (Flores) were married 37 years. They had three children, Manuel (wife Kim), Angela (husband Sergio) and Joseph, their grandchildren, Anthony, Sergio, Isabella, Marcos and Mateo and their great-grandchild Daniel. Ken is preceded in death by his Father Moody “Bud” Barnes Jr. He is survived by his step-father Ray Buckley, Mother Nordine Buckley (DeNigris), Uncle Bob DeNigris (wife Jovane), Brother John Barnes, Sister Mary Hill (husband Ron), Godmother Joyce and many nephews, nieces, cousins and brother and sister-in-law’s.
Ken was full of life and he brought so much joy into everyone’s lives with all his funny stories and his love for music, cooking and family. He was truly a man that was loved, respected, and admired for his mentorship, strength, friendship, love, guidance and support by so many.
He loved to reminisce about his younger years growing up on Redding Avenue surrounded by his huge Italian family and all his friends. The stories of Sunday dinners, family gatherings and younger year antics was always told with so much love and humor that you could not help but laugh. He loved to share stories of his Nono and when he owned the Roma Hotel and Bar in the underground of Sacramento (sold in 1964), when his family owned a store Mr. B’s Liquor & Deli (sold in 1985) and the days when he played football in high school and college or when he drove a liquor truck. The things this man did during his younger years would make for a great book.
May his love of stories continue and remain in our hearts forever.
