Kathleen Clare Ellis

Kathleen Clare Ellis was born on July 7, 1943 and passed away on October 31, 2024.

At 81 she led a good life full of friends and family. Known as the English Rose among her friends, Kate was born and raised in Beckenham, Kent, England.  at 23, Kate emigrated to Toronto, Canada where she met and married the love of her life, John Douglas Ellis (Doug) in 1968.  This adventurous couple moved next to Calgary and then in 1979 they moved south to Sacramento California with their two kids, Michael Ellis and Laura Ellis Thielen and dreams of warmer weather. In Sacramento, they found a community who welcomed them with open arms.  The congregation at St. Anthony’s was their support network and social club. Kate’s husband, Doug, passed in 2002 and he has been missed dearly.  Kate is survived by both of her children as well as 4 grandchildren, Erich, Nick, August and Patrick and her sister Ann Vogele. Please join us on Saturday, November 9^th at St. Anthony’s Church at 1pm to commemorate Kate’s life.  In lieu of flowers, Kate would enjoy donations to Family Promise of Sacramento and the Bloodbank of Sacramento.

Her dedication to these causes over the years has been strong and has definitely had a positive impact on many lives here in Sacramento. Mass will be followed by a celebration in the church hall where all the ironed tablecloths will act as a testament to a chore close to Kate’s heart.
