Josephine Brosi

Josephine (Frias) Brosi, fondly known as Gigi or Josi, was born on November 13, 1961 in Manila, Philippines to Rosito and Paz (Villezar) Frias. She was raised in Makati and immigrated to the United States with her family in October of 1971. She graduated from Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School (Alameda, CA) in 1980. From there, she attended the University of San Francisco and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Josephine began her career at Children’s Hospital Oakland, where she discovered her passion for newborn care. In 1989, she transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at San Francisco General Hospital— tending to newborns in need, reassuring anxious families, and offering hope through the most delicate moments. Josephine’s gentle hands provided warmth and healing in times of uncertainty. She lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 12 years before meeting the love of her life, Ronald “Ron” Brosi, in September of 2001. In February of 2002, she moved to New York to be with him and worked at Lenox Hill Hospital (NYC). Josephine married Ron on August 22, 2003. They spent their honeymoon years in Astoria, NY before finally relocating back to California in 2005. Together, they enjoyed exploring new restaurants and cuisines, spending time with family, and traveling to their favorite destination, Hawaii, to enjoy its beautiful beaches and warm aloha spirit. She worked at Mercy San Juan Medical Center (Carmichael, CA) until retiring in November of 2023. After battling severe health complications for the last five months and celebrating her 22nd wedding anniversary with Ron in the hospital, Josephine departed this earthly life on August 25, 2025 to be with her parents and her brothers, Jose and Noel Frias. Josephine is survived by her husband, Ronald Brosi, and her sisters, Maryann Frias and Dina Frias. She will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Matthew Torres; Janette and Alvin Aquino; David Frias; Jacqueline and Perfecto Marinas; and Jordan Frias. She also leaves behind her great-nieces and great-nephews, Mia and Malyssa Torres; Nicholas and Noah Aquino; Xavier, Xayden, and Xander Marinas; and Jazz Frias. A Funeral Mass welcoming all those who wish to celebrate Josephine Brosi’s life will be held on September 27, 2025 at St. Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center in Sacramento, CA.
