Johnny R. Duncan

John was born in Santa Cruz County and was a long-time resident of West Sacramento, CA.
He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.
He will be forever remembered and cherished by his wife of over 52 years, Helen, his children Keith (Traci), Cristal (Buzz), Holly (Brad) and brother Wayne (Denise).
Preceded in death by his parents John and Joyce Duncan and sister Sandy (Gary).
He was the proud Papa to eight grandchildren that he adored. John Thomas, Emily, Maria, Robby, Ronan, Lila, Lola and Tommy.
John spent his youth playing baseball, riding horses and working on cars. He entered local youth rodeos. He rode with the neighborhood horse gang getting into mischief.
He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1966. While in high school he enjoyed playing football.
John was drafted in March 1968 and served in the Army. He was a proud member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, a sky soldier. He served as an artillery specialist in Vietnam.
John was very active in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives He attended as many functions involving them as he could. Even if he had to travel out of the area. You could always his encouraging voice.
He loved taking his family camping, fishing, hunting with a rifle and archery. He snorkeled and also enjoyed scuba diving.
He enjoyed a good western and war movie, loved history and enjoyed game night with the family.
He always looked forward to family gatherings and welcomed extended family and friends, along with his many nieces and nephews and their families.
He had a fun-loving disposition, quick to smile, loved to tell a joke or story and always wanted everyone to have a good time.
He enjoyed trap shooting and lunch with the Wednesday crew.
He will be deeply missed by many.
