John Lawrence Rodriguez

John Lawrence Rodriguez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend,
passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 72 in Citrus Heights, CA. Born in 1951 in
Riverside, CA, John was known to those in his family as Dad, Daddoo, Grandpa, and Johnny,
and to friends as JR, John Boy, Hombre, and Johnny Rod.

John graduated from Notre Dame High School in Riverside, CA, in 1969. He graduated from
University of California-Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1973, before he
earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in 1978.

In 1973, John began his 33-year career with the State of California. He dedicated his professional
life to serving his community, working with the Departments of Health Services and Mental
Health. In his retirement, John was a dedicated volunteer at Loaves and Fishes, a charitable
organization that serves those in need.

John is survived by his beloved wife Jackie, his sons Matthew and Steven, daughter Christine,
grandsons Victor, David, Liam, and Luca, brothers Jeff and Jimmy, sisters Joanne, Julie, and
Mary and their spouses Michelle, Jack, RK, and Don. He was preceded in death by his parents
John and Patricia Rodriguez. By marriage a son to Tony and Aurora Rizzi; father to Ann, Mike,
and Jessica; and brother to Jim and Vicki, Frank and Cindy, Maria and Randy, Anthony and
Linda, and Cathy and Mark. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He enjoyed reading, hiking, camping, and travelling; however, John’s greatest joy was spending
time and creating memories with his family and friends. He cherished those moments the most.

John will be deeply missed. As Francois Mauriac once said, “No love, no friendship, can cross
the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever.”

An 11:00 AM funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Our Lady of
Assumption Catholic Church in Carmichael, CA. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Citrus
Heights Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes in
