John Flores

John M. Flores of West Sacramento, CA, passed away on January 20, 2023, at the age of 70 with his
family lovingly by his side. This loss was completely unexpected leaving family and friends shocked and
deeply saddened. He will be deeply missed in so many ways.
Everyone who knew John knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and
that he loved his family and friends very much. John is survived and missed by his wife Debbie of 27
years, and his daughter Maryanne, son Joe and daughter in law Eleanor. Forever cherished and
remembered by his grandchildren: Gregory, Anthony, Michael, Isabella, Janessa, Joe Jr., Alexa, and
Melissa; great grandchildren: Virginia, Emma, Anthony Jr., and Xavier. His memory will be cherished by
his siblings: Leticia, Irene, Theresa, David, Mike, and sister n law Vicki as well as beloved nieces and
nephews. John, preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Maria Flores and brother Jesus.
John worked at UC Davis in the Food and Nutrition Services Department as a cook for 37 years. In his
retirement he was given a new position as he would call it, a full-time Grandpa daycare. He secretly
loved his new position and picking up his grandchildren from school and spending his time with them.
His love for attending his grandchildren’s sports games and never missing a game and now also being
able to attend his great grandchildren’s games – John was a devoted father and grandfather. He will
forever be in their hearts and missed very much.
John loved hopping in the car with his wife, Debbie, to go on long rides and always listening to their
oldies, and they loved sitting in the front yard together listening to music and having a beer or two, or
three. John’s love for his siblings was unconditional, he was giving and unselfish and always made sure
they had what they needed. John was a simple man and never asked for anything. John put his family
ahead of anything and made sure they were all taken care of. His family’s health and happiness was all
he needed—he lived for his family! John was a humble, loving, and giving man and anyone that had the
pleasure of being in his life felt his kind and happy spirit. His worry for others to make sure they did not
need anything; this was honorable to see. John always enjoyed family parties and he enjoyed his bar

crew that he would see every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. He enjoyed being around those he loved,
and he absolutely loved all of us. This is a tragic loss for all his family and friends!
John – You were the best husband anyone could have, every single moment I spent being your wife, I
realized how lucky I was. I will always cherish our time we had together. You will always be in my
memories and heart. I will always love you more than you will know. Until we meet again. Your Loving
Wife Debbie
“Dad until we see you again, we love you! Brother and I will forever be broken and lost without you. We
will always cherish our memories and time with you. We could not have asked for a better Dad” –
Maryanne Flores
