Jesus Perez Rubio

October 20, 1943 – December 27, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jesus Rubio who passed away on December 27, 2024 at the age of 81 after a battle with lung disease. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Rubio; three children and their spouses, David (& Michelle) Rubio, Sunshine (& Don) Umeda, and Alejandro Rubio; and 5 grandchildren, Rafael, Xavier, and Savannah Umeda, and Miguel and Nicholas Rubio.

He was born in Mexico City where he grew up playing soccer and later studied to be an accountant. His parents, Juan & Angela brought him and his siblings, Juan, and Lucero to Loomis, California. Jesus later went back to Mexico City to marry his sweetheart on September 2, 1967. They came back to California to begin their new life together. He graduated from CSU, Sacramento with a Bachelors of Arts in Government. While attending Sac State he was heavily involved in the Ballet Folklorico de Sacramento. Jesus earned a teaching credential and became a teacher in 1973 for the Sacramento City Unified School District where he taught for 35 years. While his children were growing up, we utilized his summer breaks for visiting family in Mexico and camping throughout the west. Jesus also coached the girl’s and boy’s soccer teams at C.K. McClatchy High School from 1984-1998 and then moved on to coach with Sacramento United, Elk Grove Soccer recreational league, and Laguna Creek High School. He was proudly inducted into the Mexican-American Hall of Fame Sports Association for outstanding achievement in 1995.  He was a member of the California Teachers Association and worked as a union representative for Will C. Wood middle school. He retired from teaching in 2005. He was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to his family. He enjoyed all conversations from topics such as politics, history, soccer, bicycling and enjoyed passing down family traditions and reunions.
