Jeanne Sabra Smith

Jeanne Sabra Smith, age 94, of Carmichael, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 3rd, 2026. Born in Concordia, Kansas, Jeanne majored in Journalism at Kansas University. There she met her future husband, Ralph Smith, who wasted no time in courting her. They were married right after college, and over the following 8 years, had 5 children.

Proud of her Irish heritage and a devout Catholic, Jeanne was a steadfast and loving matriarch and raised her children in the church.

An accomplished classical pianist, her children enjoyed her nightly piano serenades after dinner as they were growing up.

Jeanne will always be remembered for her love for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were a constant source of joy and delight to her, as she was to them

Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph Smith, aka Smitty, who described her as “sweetness and light”. She is survived by her children, Margaret, Barbara, Thomas, Michael, and Victoria, and her beloved but typical Siamese cat Sunny. Her love and legacy lives on through her family, including 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, 9/12, from 10:00-11:00 am at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights, followed by a Mass beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday, 9/15, at 12 noon.
