It is with a heavy heart to share that Jaime Renee Ruiz passed away on January 20, 2024 in Sacramento, California.

Jaime was born on June 26, 1977 in Sacramento, CA.  He came into this world a fighter, being born prematurely at 7 months, weighing only 3 lbs. 9 oz.  During the past several years, he fought hard to maintain his health.  Unfortunately, this last visit to the hospital, his body could fight no more.

Jaime is survived by his parents Martha & Efren Ruiz Sr., his younger Brother, Javier, Sister-in-law Michelle, Niece & Goddaughter Jasmin, and Nephew Diego, his pet dog Chuey of 13 years, who he called his “Baby”, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Jaime was preceded in death by his older Brother Efren L. Ruiz, Jr., Grandparents Alfonso & Refugio Labrado, Grandparents Octaviano & Macaria Ruiz, Uncles Manuel & Ruben Ruiz.

He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic elementary school. He then went to Christian Brothers High School, where he graduated in 1995.  He received the De La Salle Medal for Excellence in Religion and was a National Honor Society Member.  While attending Christian Brothers he did several plays & musicals.

From a young age, Jaime’s passion was always dancing,.  He was a Folklorico Dancer from the age of 13.  He also did Aztec dance.  At the age of 15, he taught and choreographed Folklorico dance to a small group in Sacramento called Danzantes de mi Tierra.   He also danced for Folklorico Latino de Woodland and DeColores.  After graduating from Christian Brothers High School, he attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, CA.  He also danced and taught Folklorico there.  After graduating from UCSB, where he was awarded a Bachelors in Dance, he returned to Sacramento and taught Folkloico at UC Davis and continued dancing and performing when time permitted.

Other than dancing, his other hobby was art.  He loved sketching, drawing & painting. His vision of his artwork was unique in many ways. He also enjoyed visiting the various casinos.

Jaime worked for the Hospitality Industry for over 10 years.  He was a Front Desk Supervisor for the past several years.

Jaime will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his laughter and the love for his family and friends.

Services for Jaime will be held at St. Mary Funeral Home.  Viewing will be on Monday, February 12, in the Chapel from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm.  On Tuesday, February 13, viewing from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Mass in the Chapel at 2:00 pm and burial & committal and 3:00 pm.
