Irma Arely Crook

September 28, 1932 – March 23, 2025

Irma “Mimi “Crook passed peacefully on March 23, 2025.  She was born in El Salvador on September 28, 1932 and had a long life surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband Billy Crook, brother Federico Gomez, daughter Debra Delicino, and grandson, Nick Minkler.  She is survived by her sister, Carmen Alvarenga, son, Bill Gabriel (Connie), son David Crook, and daughter, Karen Bustillos (Ricardo). Son of her heart Alonso Gomez and her daughters in love Heidi, Diana, Irma, and Susana.  The loves of her life, her grandchildren: Jason (Jenifer), Kristen, Eva (Josh), Veronica (Mason), Alexandra (Sean), Danielle (Jeff), Gabby, Isabella, William, Casey, Karina, Angie (David), Phoebe (Brian).  Her great grandchildren: Josh (Emily), Dominic, Reagan, Beckham, Quaid, Kallista, Aliyah, Alayna, Carmelo, Caden, Mia, Dominick, Emilee, Logan, Jade and Jace.

Mimi immigrated from El Salvador  when she was 17, and entered a new world.  She met and married Billy Crook and they raised four children together.  Many times, more children and even adults came to live in the home where they found refuge and love.

She believed in giving pure, unconditional love.  She taught us how to love, and always saw the positive. Her unwavering faith and hope sustained her even in the hardest times, She sent cards of  love and encouragement to so many throughout the years.

She loved music, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, Spanish ballads, Flamenco, and spiritual.  We all remember her playing music to housework sessions.  She was a devoted Catholic and loved her “Blue Army” prayer group.

Her legacy was love.  Love for those who needed a mother’s care, who needed encouragement, who needed prayer, or just a smile that told them that all was going to be okay.

Known to some as Mima, Tia Mima, to others as Mimi, and her most cherished title, Grandma Mimi.  She loved and laughed, and danced with her babies. So many children through the years in her role of mother, caregiver, grandmother, and pre-school teacher.  Once she loved, she never let go.  She never experienced the love of a mother, as she lost hers so young.  God gifted her with an extraordinary ability to love.  To love those who needed a mother’s unconditional and unwavering love.

We will miss you Grandma Mimi and strive to love like you.

Funeral services will be conducted on May 16th, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Marello Church, 7200 Auburn-Folsom Rd, Granite Bay, CA.  Reception to follow.
