It is with great sadness that the family of Ileane Ann Hoffart Flanders-Hamlin announce her passing on Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was surrounded by family when she took her last breath.
Ileane was born in Woodland, CA on July 15, 1935, to Catherine Ann (Wild) Hoffart and Melchior Valentine Hoffart. She attended St. Francis Elementary, Rio Linda Elementary, Grant Union High School, Sacramento City College and Heald’s Business School. She retired as Vice President of Kaiser Permanente Credit Union.
Ileane married Richard T. Flanders in Sacramento on June 2. 1956. Shortly after Richard graduated from Davis Veterinary School, they lived in Beverly Hills for a few years before returning to Sacramento. Together, they had two daughters and a son they raised in South Sacramento. Ileane and Richard divorced in 1972.
Soon after, Ileane began an endearing relationship with “grumpy” Jack Hamlin. After many years of happiness, when their children were grown, Ileane married Jack on July 26, 1986. Ileane was loved by Jack’s family throughout his life and that bond continued after his death on March 20, 2009.
Later, by chance, Ileane met Gerald (Jerry) Garcia at her church one morning and they fell in love at first sight. They shared over ten years together before her death. Jerry was her angel and provided the best of care in her last years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Gerald; sister, Antionette (Donald); children, Cynthia, Judith, William (Tawny); stepchildren, Jeffrey (Julie), John (Julie), Jean, and Joy; grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Rene, Charlene, Margaret, Jared, and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
Ileane was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Melchior; husband, Jack Hamlin; and granddaughter Brianna. They have reunited in heaven for all eternity.
Ileane’s beautiful smile and warm heart was adored by everyone she met. She was intelligent, had a witty sense of humor and so elegant many of us called her “Queen Mum”. She enjoyed music, movies, watching football, and NASCAR races. Most of all, she treasured her large, loving family that included the Wild, Hoffart, Hein, Flanders, Hamlin and Garcia families. She is deeply missed, but her legacy of unconditional love and understanding will continue to be woven into those that knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 12:00 pm at St. Mary Cemetery, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA.
Memorial Donations in Ileane’s name may be made to Camp Rainbow Gold, 1120 S Five Mile Rd, Boise, ID 83709.
