Herbert Allen Kelly

Herbert Allen Kelly of Sacramento died on July 22, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Oakland, CA to Herbert Thomas Kelly and Cassandra “Nan” Marie Allen Kelly. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Elizabeth Ann Henderson Kelly of Rancho Murieta, his daughter Lisa Kelly Ball and her husband James of San Diego, CA, his son Herbert A. Kelly III of Sacramento, CA, his son Sean Patrick Kelly of Pacifica, CA and grandchildren; from Sean: Patrick, Joshua, Brandon, Kayla, Dain, and Katey Barsam-Kelly, from Herb: Travis, Amanda, and Hunter Kelly, from Lisa: Jeremy, Cynthia, and Christopher Ball, and also 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Herb graduated from Oakland Technical High School and went on to community college nearby. He then served in the Honor Guards in the Korean War, he qualified for this because he was so tall. When he returned, he drove a delivery truck for Canada Dry in the Bay Area. In the summer of 1961, he moved to Sacramento to pursue a career in Real Estate. He became a Broker and had his own company, Vista Sales, Inc. Herb worked for 35 years, the majority of the time with a Developer, William R. Mazza. They built many subdivisions in the Sacramento area including Greenback Woods which is adjacent to his final resting place at the Calvary Cemetery and near Foothill Golf Course.

In Sacramento, he met and married Ann on August 31, 1962. They had three children and twelve grandchildren including two sets of twins! Herb was active on the Board and served as President for North Ridge Country Club in Fair Oaks, CA. Herb was a lifelong Catholic and avid golfer and loved his Irish heritage.
