Helen Esther Daley

Helen was born and grew up in Pitcher, Oklahoma. Her parents, John and Martina Comba, were immigrants from northern Italy. She had four older siblings: Katie, Louie, Tillie, and Margaret. In 1940 she married Elmo Daley. They lived in Miami (OK), Paso Robles, and Rio Vista before moving to Auburn where Elmo taught English at Sierra College. Helen worked in dress shops and raised their three children: Kevin, Sean, and Katie. When Sierra moved to Rocklin, Helen and Elmo moved to Roseville where they lived until their deaths. Helen obtained her teaching credential and taught in the Roseville Elementary School District for many years. She also became an award-winning artist.

Helen died peacefully in her home, which is filled with her watercolors, visited and surrounded by family. She retained her optimism and joy of living until the very end.

She is survived by her children: Katie Wlasiuk (husband Sam), Kevin Daley (Mary Alice) and daughter-in law Marie Braure-Daley; her grandchildren: Carol Hockridge (Mark), Matt Daley (Meghan), Leda Wlasiuk (Peter James), Greg Wlasiuk (Maria); her great grandchildren: Ethan Hockridge, Maggie and Max Daley, Catherine and Declan James.

A funeral mass and internment will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery (7100 Verner Ave., Citrus Heights) on Friday, April 5th with a reception to follow.
