Guadalupe Villarta Cajucom
- 12/12/1934 - 11/14/2024
Born on December 12, 1934, in Victoria, Tarlac (Philippines), Guadalupe Villarta Cajucom (also affectionately known as Lupe or Upeng) passed on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Sacramento, CA, and is survived by her husband Dr. Edilberto Cajucom, and children Annabelle, Jose Rex, and Eileen, and their families, as well as her niece Celia Esquillo Babasa, nephew Luis Esquillo, their families, and extended family and friends around the globe.
Guadalupe’s early education included the Instituto de Mujeres, Our Lady of Loretto College, and Centro Escolar University before graduating from Philippine Women’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. After working for Philippine Airlines’ international catering services division, Guadalupe married and began a family, eventually making the decision to uproot her young family and move to Michigan in 1967 (where her husband Eddie completed his doctorate degree at Michigan State University); ultimately making her home in California beginning in 1973. Known for her excellent cooking, Guadalupe delighted innumerable guests over the years, including many years of foreign exchange college students she hosted through the Sister City Program between Sacramento and Matsuyama, Japan. After raising her family she continued to care for others as Owner/Operator of a residential adult care home in Sacramento for over forty years; and she was working until the day of her unfortunate accident which led to her passing.
Guadalupe was known for her thoughtfulness and generosity. For decades, she let friends and loved ones know they were in her thoughts by sending or delivering goods and packages – whether it was nuts and fruits (e.g., many were introduced to persimmons through her efforts) or something she just thought a recipient might like or could use (she almost always had an ‘LBC Box’ in progress to send to the Philippines), Guadalupe did extensive driving and drop-offs to homes and to the post office. She was unstoppable.
For those who knew and loved her, Guadalupe was a true force and she will be missed beyond measure.
Friends are welcome to attend her visitation on Wednesday December 11th from 3-6pm, at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7100 Verner Ave, Citrus Heights, CA 95621. Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday December 12th at 11am, followed by interment at 12pm.
