Grace Veronica DeLisle

January 4, 1939 – February 1, 2025

Surrounded by family, Grace Veronica DeLisle passed away on February 1, 2025 following a brief illness. She was born in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota to Robert and Veronica Schuler on January 4, 1939. The oldest of five siblings, Grace was raised on the family farm outside of Munich, North Dakota. At the age of 13, her family moved to Los Angeles, California. Grace attended St. Mary’s Academy High School and went to work as a teletype operator for the phone company following graduation.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, and her beloved husband of 61 years, Mark. They met during her senior year of high school and married in Los Angeles when Mark returned from over seas deployment in the USAF. They celebrated a full and happy life together of children, grandchildren, travel, and faith. Grace was a long-time resident of Elk Grove, California after many moves and relocations for Mark’s job. She left a wonderful group of friends everywhere she lived and as an exceptional homemaker until the end, she had a distinct talent for making everyone feel like family. Grace has been an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarksburg and the St. Joseph’s Social Club. She has had the privilege of living her last few years at Bruceville Point Senior Living Community in Elk Grove, where she was treated like a queen by loving, compassionate, capable staff and cultivated another group of friends who became like her family.

Grace’s memory lives on in the hearts of her loving family; she is survived by her children, Linda (Mike) of Rowlett Texas, Laura of El Monte California, and Tim (Jean) of Grants Pass Oregon, sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephew. She had two lovely grandchildren, Allie (Tyler) and Andrew, and an adorable great-grandson, Greyson. Grace loved life, loved people, and always had a smile on her face. We will miss her forever, but her family is at peace with her passing as we know she is no longer in pain and resting with God. We joyfully anticipate the day when we are reunited with her.

A memorial mass was celebrated in Grace’s honor at St Mary’s Cemetery and Funeral Center chapel in Sacramento, California on February 5, 2025. Her ashes will be committed at a later date, and she will join her husband in the Veteran’s Honor Garden at St, Mary’s. Memorial donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
