Gloria F. Marquez

Gloria Fuentes Marquez
March 9, 1944 – March 12, 2026
Gloria Fuentes Marquez, lovingly known as Grandma Gloria and Aunt Gloria, was born on March 9,
1944, in Sacramento, California. She passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 82,
surrounded by the love of numerous family members.
Gloria was the heart of her family — a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and
proud great-grandmother. She had a special gift for caring for the people she loved, and she
dedicated her life to making sure everyone around her felt nurtured, welcomed, and deeply loved.
As a teenager, Gloria met the love of her life, Rudy Marquez, Sr., who was once her neighbor. Their
young love blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly 63 years — a true testament to
devotion, loyalty, and enduring love.
Gloria took great pride in her role as a homemaker, and it was a role she embraced with grace, skill,
and love. She loved being a wife and mother, but the title she treasured most was being a
grandmother and great-grandmother. She was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and one
precious great-granddaughter, all of whom adored her beyond measure.
Gloria was a woman of great pride and elegance. She always looked her best, even while at home,
where she kept an immaculate house and carried herself with dignity and care. She was rarely
without her crisp, clean apron, and she maintained a home that reflected the warmth, order, and love
she brought into the lives of others. Gloria was also an exceptional cook — the kind of cook who
could rival any chef. She had many treasured secret recipes, and if you were lucky enough, she
might share one with you.
In her quieter moments, Gloria enjoyed word search puzzles, tea parties with her grandchildren, and
watching her beloved soap operas and telenovelas. She made it a point to show up for the people
she loved, never missing special birthdays, celebrations, or family gatherings. Her presence was a
gift, and her love was something you could always count on.
Aunt Gloria also lovingly cared for many of her nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and
great-nephews, opening her heart and home to generations of family. Her nurturing spirit touched so
many lives, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.
A baptized Catholic, Gloria was a woman of deep faith who believed strongly in God. She held a
special devotion to the Virgin Mary and honored her by displaying beautiful statues in her home — a
reflection of the faith that guided her life and brought her comfort and strength.
Gloria was deeply loved, admired, and respected by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love,
faith, family devotion, and cherished traditions that will continue to live on in all who knew her. She
will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ronald Marquez; her sister, Guadalupe Alva; and
her father, Martin Fuentes.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Rudy Marquez, Sr.; her son, Rudy Marquez, Jr.
(Sheila); her granddaughters, Serena Marquez and Tiara Marquez; and her great-granddaughter,
Giavanna Pearson.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Gloria’s love, strength, and beautiful spirit
will live on in the family she cherished so deeply. She was truly one of a kind, and her memory will
forever remain in our hearts.
