Gilbert Ruth Lucio

Gilbert Ruth Lucio, 84, was born on June 18, 1941, in Sacramento, California, where he lived his entire life until his passing on May 13, 2026. Gil was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Norma Payawal Lucio.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Gilbert “Gibby” (Monica) Lucio , Jessica (Sanders “Pep”) Jones, Cassandra (Emil) Gonzales, Daniela Lucio, and Phillipe Lucio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Isaiah J., Tiras, Niya, Isaiah C., Jordan, Faith, Alani, Zoe, and Melia; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Zaniya, Jackson, and Sonny.

Known affectionately as “Mr. Too Much,” Gil was a Sacramento native and a proud electrician who spent more than 40 years working for Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. He was a lifelong artist whose curiosity, creativity, and thirst for knowledge never faded.

The saying, “A stranger is a friend you haven’t met yet,” described Gil perfectly. He had a gift for connecting with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Gil was the life of the party — always arriving a little late because he had to make sure his hair was just right. His wicked sense of humor, vibrant personality, and love for family and friends will be missed.

He will be remembered for his endless stories, artistic soul, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
