George Louis Carmona, Sr.

November 17, 1943 - January 19, 2023

George Louis Carmona, Sr.

George Louis Carmona Sr. was born on November 17, 1943, in Florence Colorado to Antonino Benito Carmona and Ruth Ariza Carmona. George peacefully passed on January 19, 2023.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Nellie Gonzales Carmona, along with his son and daughter-in-law Carlos Santana Carmona and Melissa Correa Carmona,  as well as his youngest son Samuel Philip Carmona and his eternal “baby girl”, Ruth Nina Carmona.

George is also survived by his sisters Martha Abila and Frances Aragon, also his brother and sister-in-law Tony and Connie Carmona.

George was preceded in his death by his parents Antonino Benito Carmona and Ruth Ariza Carmona, his two sons George Louis Carmona Jr. and Gabriel Luke Carmona, and his sister Cecilia Nina Blanco.

When he was 10 years old, George and his family moved from Colorado to Northern California, where in 1962, he would graduate from Norte Del Rio High School in North Sacramento. George was always a hard worker, as a young man he worked at the Original Sams Hofbrau on “L” Street in Sacramento and then moved with his wife to the Bay Area where George would work at a Chemical Plant.

In 1986 they moved back home, where George worked in the parks and maintenance department for the city of West Sacramento for nearly 20 years. Even after retiring in 2004, George kept at it, taking a part-time job at FedEx.

Sadly in 2009, George was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but he did not give up on living his life that day. George would go on to do things that brought him happiness, spending hours endlessly on his yard and other daily tasks, until he physically wasn’t able to do it anymore. To say George loved to work would be an understatement.

Hospitalized in 2019, George’s love for all his family: sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, carried him through the final years of his life. In the end, he spent his last days with his sons, daughters, niece Linda Blanco White, and wife.

George’s legacy is his children, who will carry on the Carmona name as they make their way in this world with George now watching over them.
