George was born on April 4, 1943, in Houston, Texas. He proudly served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, earning the respect and admiration of those who knew him both in service and throughout his life.
He married his cherished wife, Dorothy, on June 2nd, 1964, and together they raised two daughters, Peggy Beard and Paula Clark. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished his role as grandfather to five grandchildren and great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.
George was known for his warm spirit, generous heart, and remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. Whether in his neighborhood, at his favorite restaurants, or during his travels around the world, he brought laughter, comfort, and a smile to those around him. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and special, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers.
Travel was one of George’s greatest passions. He loved exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and sharing stories and souvenirs from his adventures with those he loved. He also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: planting fruits and vegetables, working out at the gym, walking through his neighborhood, spending time with family, and planning his next trip.
George especially loved to dance. Whether dancing with Dorothy, sharing a special dance with his daughters, or playful moments with his granddaughters, his dancing filled rooms with happiness and joy. Those moments will be cherished forever by the family and friends who were fortunate enough to share them with him.
George is survived by his daughters, Peggy Beard and Paula Clark; his brother, Robert Garza; his sister, Tina Garza; his five grandchildren; and his eight great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held on July 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Funeral Center, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, California 95820. A committal service with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California 95620.
