Frederick Anthony Quontamatteo
- December 10, 1939 - April 24, 2026
Frederick Anthony Quontamatteo of Sacramento passed away peacefully on the morning of April 24, 2026, surrounded by family and friends after many heartfelt visits in his final days.
Born on December 10, 1939, in Martinez to Tony and Rose Quontamatteo, Fred graduated from Alhambra High School and Saint Mary’s College of California.
After serving as a Christian Brother for many years, he felt called to a change in vocation. Some years later, he met and married the love of his life and had three children. He spent his career as a high school teacher, including more than 30 years teaching Spanish at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento. In the evenings, he instructed adults in English as a Second Language.
Fred loved cooking, swimming, reading, and dancing to oldies music. A history and language buff, he loved foreign language and culture, especially Italian, Spanish, and Latin. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, Nonno, and provider with a great sense of humor and a kind heart.
He is survived by his children, Cristina (Miguel) Acosta, Mark (Cindy) Quontamatteo, and Anthony Quontamatteo; and by his grandchildren, Eliana, Mateo, Francisco, Fred, Dominic, and Chiara. He was reunited in death with his wife, Colombina.
