Eugene Pattawi Rosales

Eugene Pattawi Rosales, age 70, was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father on June 2, 2026, after a short battle with a terminal illness.

Gene was born on August 18, 1955, in Tuguegarao, Philippines, to Romeo Estrada Rosales and Nena Pattawi Rosales. At the age of 13, he emigrated to the United States with his family in the spring of 1969. They settled in Sacramento, California, where Gene’s first job was farmwork alongside his father and older brother, James (“Jimmy”). He graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in Sacramento, where he played football, and later earned his cosmetology license, building a career as a hairstylist and barber.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Eden; his four children, Ivan, David, Erich, and Genevieve; and his six cherished grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Grandpa,” “Yoyo,” and “Wowo”.

During his life, Gene found joy in fishing along the Sacramento River, betting on horse races at Cal Expo, and spending time with family and friends. An avid lover of classic rock, he rarely tuned in to anything other than 96.9 The Eagle. A devoted sports fan, Gene faithfully followed the Oakland A’s, Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and Sacramento Kings. He was also a talented keyboardist and former member of the Sacramento band, The Midnight Players. Gene was a quiet man, but the warmth of his smile revealed a gentle and fun-loving spirit. Our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and brother will be missed.

Family and Friends are invited to a Viewing and Vigil Service on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and a Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 10:30 am at Calvary Cemetery & Funeral Center, 7100 Verner Avenue, Citrus Heights, CA.
