Ermelinda Varela Hernandez at the age of 98 passed away peacefully on November 30, 2022, in Fair Oaks, California. Ermelinda was born September 9, 1924, in Morenci, Arizona, the daughter of Francisco Varela and Maria Cruz Varela. She grew up in Miami, Arizona and in the early 1950’s she moved to Northern California area. She settled in Sacramento California. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting.

Preceded in death by her husband Ponciano, her son Ronald and her parents. She is survived by her sons Rodolfo, Arthur, Paul, John, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers and Sutter Hospice staff for all the dedication. A private memorial service will be held.
