Enriqueta Martinez Valdivia, passed away peacefully in her home in Sacramento, California on December 29, 2023 at the age of 85 battling cancer.  In her final months, she was surrounded, day and night, by family members who took turns caring for her, embracing her and praying with her.

 

Enriqueta was born in Santa Barbara, Jalisco, Mexico on July 15, 1938 to Pedro and Lucila Martinez. She met the love of her life, Eleuterio M. Valdivia in Mexico and married on August 9, 1956. It was “love at first sight” she always told her children. She raised her children with love and devotion with her late and beloved husband of 38 years. They moved to California in 1963 along with her first born, Rigoberto, who was only 2yrs old. She had 4 more children while balancing her hard work ethic and being the matriarch of the family.  She worked long hours for Contadina Cannery in Woodland, CA and retired after 35 years of service.

 

Enriqueta was a devoted mother to Rigoberto “Rigo” (deceased), Aurelia, Eleuterio “Teyo”, Alicia and Pedro “Pete”.  Enriqueta, was also known as “Mama Queta”, was a loving, compassionate, religious and nurturing person who had a passion for cooking, gardening, music, playing quarter slot machines, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her warm and caring nature endeared everyone she met and she will be deeply missed.

 

She was profoundly proud and grateful of her children. She always shared how blessed she was and never wavered from her faith.  She is survived by her children Aurelia Cook (Darrell), Eleuterio “Teyo” Valdivia (Shauna), Alicia Valdivia and Pedro Valdivia (Katie) and her grandchildren Nicolette North (Ethan), Dallas Cook (Abbey), Olivia Valdivia, Pedro Valdivia, and her great grandchildren: Tallen and Eliana Cook.

 

Viewing, vigil & mass services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 1:00pm-3pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery & Funeral Center, 6509 Fruitridge Rd. Sacramento CA 95820.

 

Burial services will be on Friday, January 26 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 860 West Street, Woodland CA 95695.
