Emma Gonzlez

May 29, 1940 – August 4, 2024

Emma Gonzalez passed away peacefully at home with her husband,
children and grandchildren at her side, following a fierce year-long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Emma was born in Sapello, New Mexico to Gregorio Trujillo and Tomasita Gonzales. She is preceded in death by her siblings Esther, Alice, Fred, Demmy, and Pete. She is survived by her siblings Greg Trujillo of Las Animas, CO and Marcella Besse (Luis) of Albuquerque, NM.

Emma is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Alfonso (“Al”),
children Cheryl Crowdis (David), Gary, Jeanne Ekstrand (Eric) of Katy, TX, grandchildren Jennifer Ortega (Raul) of Pleasant Hill, CA, Jillian, Olivia, Alexander, and great-granddaughter, Analise, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends..

Emma and Al moved to the Sacramento region in 1956. After raising her own children and many of the neighborhood kids, Emma went on to earn a degree in business and she retired from Pacific Bell after a 20-year career. In her retirement, Emma enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren, crafting and sewing, working in her garden, and cooking and caring for her family. Emma will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Parish for its ministry, especially the visits by Father Bernardin Mugabo and the Legion of Mary.

In addition, we thank the staff at Mercy San Juan Hospital and Sanctuary Hospice for their assistance in helping Emma transition into God’s care.

We also thank Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center for their kind and caring assistance in our time of need. Services will be privately held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emma’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
