Deborah A. Stephen

Deborah Andrea Stephen passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 60, in Sacramento, California. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Roy and Lena Gordon.

Deborah studied Art in Jamaica and earned her Master’s Degree in Art and Architecture in England. A gifted artist and passionate educator, she dedicated her life to creative expression and nurturing others. She spent many years in Tyler, Texas, where she raised her three children alongside her husband, before eventually settling in Sacramento.

Deborah was a beloved wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend. She lived with purpose, painted with love, and walked in faith. She will be remembered for her grace, vibrancy, kindness, and generosity of spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Albert Stephen; her children, Bijan, Kalon, and Karis; her daughter-in-law, Ellen; and her cherished grandson, Simon. She is also survived by her sisters — Sonia Alexander, Pauline McNally, and Fay Green — and their families; as well as her brothers, Albert Chung and Robert Gordon, and their families.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael Gordon.

A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, October 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 660 Florin Rd, Sacramento, CA 95831. Following the service, the committal will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, 6509 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95820.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Deborah’s memory.
