Danielle Corcoran

Danielle Corcoran
Danielle O’Brien Corcoran, devoted wife, cherished mother, and proud grandmother, left her earthly suffering on October 14, 2023, at the age of 69. She was born on January 12, 1954, in Aurora, Colorado and spent the next nearly seven decades loving and caring for her family and friends before our heavenly Father called her home.
Danielle served her community for 41 years as a nurse eventually retiring as Administrative Director of Nursing Operations for Sutter Medical Center Sacramento before finally having the opportunity to enjoy trips with her high school sweetheart, best friend, and husband of 47 years Michael (her Mikey). There were many coastal B & B getaways, winery events, cruises, national parks, international destinations, and most recently RV trips, as well as many other of their happiest days together. However, it was the time with family she valued most. Whether the last big family trip to Catalina Island, the beach house or snow cabin weekend getaways, grandkids’ sporting or school events, birthday parties (following a special phone call from Danielle and Michael singing Happy Birthday), and of course holidays, nothing surpassed these events for Danielle and her family will continue these on in her honor.
Danielle will be remembered for her love, compassion, selflessness, and sacrifice to those whom she loved. Upon learning of her passing, her friends and family continue to share with her husband and sons how Danielle touched their lives – each with a different story how she managed to know when to call or be there in a time of need, share a joyous moment, or simply enjoy a conversation with her famous smile.
Danielle is preceded in death by her mother and father Lillian and Daniel O’Brien. She is survived by her grief-stricken husband Michael and three sons Daniel (Lourraine), Brian (Nicole), and Keith as well as her cherished grandchildren Aidan and Lily (Daniel and Lourraine) and Parker and Bennett (Keith). Danielle is also survived by her two sisters Patti (Tom) and Linda (David) along with their children and grandchildren Danielle loved so dearly.
Beyond her love for family and friends, Danielle loved Sutter and one of Danielle’s first nursing assignments was neonatal care at Sutter Memorial Hospital. Therefore, in lieu of flowers Danielle’s family asks that anyone wishing to honor Danielle’s memory please consider contributing through one of the following means. Those wishing to support newborn babies through 18 months of age are invited to provide a donation in her name or drop off physical items to the Sacramento Life Center. Those wishing to support Danielle’s love of Sutter and four decades of nursing are invited to contribute to a dedicated fund of Sutter Medical Center Foundation in honor of her former supervisor and dear friend Shelly. Contributions to the Sacramento Life Center can be made at 2316 Bell Executive Ln. Sacramento, CA 95825. Contributions to nursing scholarships can be made to Sutter Medical Center Foundation, PO Box 160045, Sacramento, CA 95816 with a designation to the Shelly McGriff Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund.
