Daniel Richard Rodriguez

May 19, 1951 - May 29, 2024

Daniel Richard Rodriguez

Daniel Rodriguez was born on 5/19/51 in Kentucky to Richard and Rosa Rodriguez.  His only sister, Marcia was born in 1958. They traveled the world as Army brats and eventually settled in Southern California.  Dan was a true Californian and loved going to the beach and surfing.

As a teen Dan had many jobs, but his favorite was parking cars for the rich and famous at clubs in Hollywood.  His children can attest that if you mentioned any celebrity that was famous in the 60’s, Dad would reply, “I parked their car.”

Dan worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T for close to 20 years.  He and wife Susan met while working at Pacific Bell.  They fell in love and married on the beach in Mexico in 1977.

Dan loved his family and friends that became family.  He enjoyed going on camping and beach vacations with his kids and continued that tradition when his grandchildren were born.

Dan had an extremely strong work ethic and instilled the importance of hard work in his children.  He also loved volunteering and giving back to the community.  When he wasn’t working, he could be found volunteering with many organizations throughout the Sacramento area.

Dan’s biggest passion was cars.  He collected many old and new-to-him cars (much to the chagrin of Susan).  He even was a car salesman for a few years.  After retiring, he volunteered his time at the California Auto Museum. He gave tours, helped to sell vehicles, and enjoyed meeting new people including the many friends he made over the years at the museum.

Dan passed away peacefully at home with family on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan, his four children, Travis (Arneysa), May (Jason), Erin (Scott) and Dustin, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
